Before becoming a tourism entrepreneur, Phyllis Golden excelled in the lodging and food and beverage industry. She was born into a family of hoteliers. Her father was raised and started his career in Europe. He was one of the first hotel General Managers for a hospitality visionary – a young man named Kemmons Wilson, the founder of Holiday Inn. Raised in hotels, Phyllis was tutored by her father, her mother and the experiences in the life as a hotel kid. Throughout her life’s journey she learned first hand the components that made for success in business. She continued the heritage of hospitality in her own career, managing teams in New York, Seattle, Phoenix and smaller markets in Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas as General Manager and Corporate Turnaround Specialist. In all of these positions, she excelled and garnered awards for herself and her properties. She accomplished much – but not solely on her own merits. She found that the most important keys to business success was to utilize time – tested success strategies, taught by history and the people before her – who paved the way for us all.
